Reader: DeWeese needs to go

2 min read

Representative Bill DeWeese would have us believe that he was unaware of the involvement of his associates in the illegal use of taxpayer’s money for political campaign purposes. These are people he appointed and supported, but he had no idea of what they were doing. Hogwash! Mr. DeWeese is a seasoned politician. He has not kept his position for 30 years by being oblivious to what is happening around him. Furthermore, he signed a letter telling state employees not to talk about the bonuses.

DeWeese says that when he learned of the misconduct, he quickly “got to the bottom of things” and did a “major housecleaning.” It seems to me that he acted quickly to throw his staff under the bus in order to cover his own behind.

We voters should know by now that DeWeese has a very low opinion of our intelligence.

Even though he has been associated with 2 huge scandals and the misuse of millions of

Taxpayer’s dollars, we keep voting him back into office. Fellow taxpayers, don’t expect any real change from DeWeese.

He seems confident he will keep his position no matter how bad his behavior. After all, it has worked for over 30 years, why should he change things?

In a press release dealing with the illegal bonuses, Mr. DeWeese said “I feel searing disappointment over the actions of those I trusted … “

We know how you feel, Mr. DeWeese. We taxpayers feel the same disappointment in our state representative.

For years the people of District 50 have dealt with DeWeeses empty sentiments, countless broken promises and out-and-out lies/denials. Now we can add disloyalty to his staff to the list.

Haven’t we had enough of this guy? Let’s get rid of him. Let’s vote Greg Hopkins in and give him a chance to work toward our state’s financial and legislative renewal.
