Truck driver injured in Springhill Township crash
SPRINGHILL TWP. – The driver of a pickup truck suffered serious injuries Thursday afternoon when his vehicle and a flatbed truck collided on Route 857 in Springhill Township. Volunteer firefighters from Smithfield and Point Marion worked to free the man from the pickup truck after he was trapped in the wreckage.
Officials said the collision occurred around 3:35 p.m. near the Appalachian Community Center.
The man was flown from the scene by medical helicopter to Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, W.Va., for treatment.
The driver of the flatbed truck was not injured.
The identities of both motorists were not available.
Fayette County 911 officials said emergency personnel from Fairchance Ambulance, Point Marion EMS and the state police joined volunteer firefighters at the crash.
