Grindstone man accused of stalking taken into custody
A Grindstone man accused of stalking his girlfriend and then hiding in the woods from police was taken into custody Tuesday in Redstone Township. George Joseph McAllister, 41, was charged before Magisterial District Judge Jesse Cramer with stalking, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct, criminal mischief, harassment and public drunkenness following the incident that occurred on Second Street in Grindstone.
Redstone Township Police Officer Norman L. Howard, along with Officer Fred Kampert, were dispatched to a home in Grindstone for a reported domestic dispute with Karen Bentz, also of Grindstone, who police said was screaming for help and allegedly being pursued by McAllister in an alley off Second Street.
Police said when officers arrived, McAllister fled into a wooded area, where Brownsville police assisted Redstone officers in a foot search for McAllister.
He was eventually found and taken into custody following a brief struggle.
Police said Bentz suffered injuries as a result of the incident.
Additionally, police reported McAllister allegedly damaged several items at the couple’s home on Second Street.
He was placed in the Fayette County Prison on $50,000 straight cash bond.
A preliminary hearing will be held Thursday before Magisterial District Judge Randy S. Abraham.
