PITTSBURGH – A Uniontown man was sentenced in federal court in Pittsburgh Friday to more than 15 years in prison on charges he violated federal drug laws. U.S. Attorney Mary Beth Buchanan said Michael Delbridge, 36, was sentenced for a charge of possession with intent to distribute 5 grams or more of cocaine on March 26, 2006.

U.S. District Judge Arthur J. Schwab handed down the sentence against Delbridge after he was indicted on the charge by a federal grand jury in October 2006. Delbridge also was charged in the indictment with drug-related incidents on Dec. 7, 2001, and Jan. 24, 2003, Buchanan said.

He was convicted on the charges stemming from the March 26, 2006, incident only, according to a press release from Buchanan.

The status of the additional charges that were filed against Delbridge was not immediately clear.

Buchanan commended Uniontown police, state police in Uniontown and the federal Drug Enforcement Administration for heading up the investigation that led to Delbridge’s conviction.

After serving his prison sentence of 15 years and eight months, Delbridge will remain under supervised release for an additional five years.
