Seminars offered on grants for homeland security
Representatives from U.S. Rep. John P. Murtha’s (D-Johnstown) office will host two seminars in the 12th Congressional District offering grant writing information and instruction for the Department of Homeland Security Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Assistance to Firefighters grants. These seminars are open to all fire departments, EMS organizations, state, borough and township elected officials, within the 12th Congressional District, to help those who apply for the yearly Assistance to Firefighters grant. It is also a chance to ask questions and gain insight as to how the grant application process is conducted.
As part of these seminars, the United States Department of Agriculture, Rural Development, (USDA-RD), will also be on hand to describe their Community Facilities program, which is an alternate or supplemental source of funding for purchasing emergency response equipment.
The two seminars are scheduled for:
Donora Fire Hall, 603 Meldon Ave., Donora, 6 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 19; and
Indiana University of Pennsylvania, Eberly College of Business Auditorium, 664 Pratt Drive, Indiana, 6 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 21.
