Inmate’s sentence lengthened for conviction in ’05 assault
An inmate at the state prison in Luzerne Township was sentenced to 21 to 42 more months behind bars Friday after he was convicted of assaulting a guard in 2005. Fayette County President Judge Conrad B. Capuzzi sentenced Robert Hankins, 40, on a charge of aggravated assault. Hankins was convicted of aggravated and simple assault earlier this week following a criminal jury trial.
Hankins hit a guard after the door to his cell in the long-term segregation unit at the State Correctional Institution at Fayette malfunctioned and opened on Dec. 6, 2005.
The Philadelphia native is in prison serving a six- to 15-year sentence for rape.
In other trial verdicts, James Walter Prinkey, 45, of Mill Run was convicted of possession of child pornography, contact with a minor, disseminating sexual material to a minor and designing obscene or sexual materials. The case ended in mistrial in February 2007.
State police charged Prinkey after he mailed pornographic photographs to a teenager. Police said he cut out the faces of two teenage girls he knew, and pasted them over the faces of women who were depicted in pornographic situations. The victims were 17 and 15, and the mailing took place in February 2006.
Judge Ralph C. Warman revoked Prinkey’s bond, and sent sentencing in the case for Feb. 20.
