Class of 1983 The Albert Gallatin High School Class of 1983 will hold its 25th-year class reunion on July 4, 5 and 6. Post cards have been mailed with information about the weekend.

Anyone who did not receive a post card, or has an updated e-mail address, is asked to contact Lisa Lisauckis at 724-438-3053 or Penny Price at 724-725-3317.

The next organizational meeting will be held on March 2 beginning at 5:30 p.m. at the home of Penny Price in Point Marion. Call for directions, if necessary.

Perogie sale

St. Mary Church in Leckrone is taking orders for perogies at 724-737-6788 from Monday through Wednesdays between 9 a.m. and noon. Orders may also be faxed to 724-737-5311 or phoned to Mary Ann at 724-583-2580. Potato and cheese, sauerkraut and prune perogies may be ordered for $5 per dozen.

Little Knights Baseball

Little Knights Baseball League will hold sign-ups on March 6-7 and 13 at the Masontown Elementary School cafeteria from 6 to 8 p.m. each evening.

There is a fee of $20 for each player for ballplayers 12 years old and younger. Each additional member of the same family will be $10 each for players in the 12 and under age groups only.

Pony League, 13 and 14 years of age, has a $40 fee for each player, while the Colt League, 15, 16 and 17 year olds, have a $50 fee for each player.

All fees must be paid at the time of registration. Anyone with questions may call 724-583-9496.

Fish dinners

St. Mary Church in Leckrone will offer lunch and dinner meals during Lent on Fridays from noon to 6 p.m.

The lunch menu includes tuna salad croissants or 6-ounce fish sandwiches with fries and coleslaw for $5 or sandwiches for $3 each.

Dinners may also be ordered. The fish dinner or shrimp dinner is $7 and the seafood platter is $8 each. Every dinner includes fries or green beans, coleslaw, roll, dessert, beverage and side special. Salmon patties are the side special for Friday.

Cash bash bingo

The Footedale Fire Department and the Albert Gallatin post prom committee will hold a cash bingo bash on April 6 beginning at 2 p.m. at the Footedale Fire Hall. Doors will open at 12:30 p.m. Tickets are $30 each and may be purchased from any post prom committee member or any fire department member.

Tickets are also available at the fire hall during Monday night bingo.

Post prom meeting

The Albert Gallatin post prom committee will hold a meeting on Wednesday at 7 p.m. in the high school cafeteria. All parents are encouraged to attend. Money will be collected from the sale of the March calendar ticket. Monetary donations are still being collected for the post prom.

Healthy Heart Month

In honor of Healthy Heart Month, Dr. Chris Lee of Masontown Chiropractic is conducting weekly health and wellness workshops. These programs help learn the truth about regaining and maintaining good health without the use of medications. These workshops will be held at 6 p.m. at his Masontown office located at 7 N. Washington St. The schedule is as follows: Tuesday, Heart Healthy Living begins at Birth; Feb. 19, Heart Health: The Untold Story; and Feb. 26, Live Your Life Without Limits.

Friends of Library

The German-Masontown Friends of the Library extend an invitation to all to attend their next meeting on Feb. 20 at 1 p.m. Refreshments will follow the meeting. The Friends of the Library help the library in various ways. Membership dues are only $3 per year; sign up at the front desk or at a meeting. Come make some new friends and at the same time become a friend to the library.

Methodist Church

Masontown United Methodist Church will celebrate the first Sunday of Lent this week. The Rev. Lewis will preach “Take Something On For Lent,” based on Matthew 4:1-11. The worship service begins at 11 a.m.; adult Sunday School class is at 9:45 a.m. The youth group meets at 7 p.m. on Sundays; the Bible Club for children in pre-school to fifth grade is on Thursday afternoon from 4 to 7 p.m. For more information about the church or its ministries, contact the pastor at 724-583-9207 or mumchurch2@verizon.net.

Free breakfast

The First Presbyterian Church, 102 W. Church Ave., Masontown, invites the public to a free breakfast each Sunday morning at 9:30, followed by worship at 11 a.m. Today is the first Sunday of Lent. Today’s message is by the Rev. James F. Giesey. His message is “Resistance.”

The greeters this month are Beverly and June Short. Minute for Mission is by Arnold Koon. Special music is by the church choir under the direction of Robin Carr. Ushers are Peter Sisko, Arnold Koon and Frank Martin.
