Taize services scheduled

1 min read

During the season of Lent, Trinity United Presbyterian Church of Uniontown, at the corner of Morgantown and Fayette streets, will hold Taize services at 7 p.m. Wednesdays. These half-hour services will be held in the candlelit sanctuary. Taize services are quiet, meditative worship.

This year, the service will consist of readings from The Psalms, the prayer book of the Bible, reading from Hildegard of Bingen, a 12th century Christian mystic, and the music from the ecumenical community at Taize, France. There is significant quiet time as well as opportunities for intercessory prayers.

These services will be held on Wednesday nights from Feb. 13 through March 12. Jason Keefer, music director, will provide the music.

The Rev. Michael Orsted, pastor at Trinity United Presbyterian Church, stated, “We are glad to share these services with the Christian community of Uniontown. These are unique, contemplative services that are especially suited for the Lenten season.’
