Connellsville Foundation to host benefit dinner
CONNELLSVILLE – The Connellsville Area School District Falcon Foundation will join with the 2008 high school musical production to raise funds to help district students. On March 8, the foundation will host its second benefit dinner that will be held prior to the Saturday night performance of “Bye, Bye Birdie.”
“We had a wonderful response last year and are hoping to repeat that success again this year,” said foundation President Ken Jaynes.
The dinner will be furnished by Miedel’s Restaurant owner and foundation board member Rod Allen and will include stuffed chicken breast, prime rib, green beans almondine, parsley potatoes, dessert and beverage.
In keeping with the “Bye, Bye Birdie” theme, the school cafeteria will be transformed into an Army post, like the one awaiting the musical’s main character, Conrad Birdie.
“And Falcon Foundation board member Tom Miller has agreed to return to play dinner music throughout the evening,” said Jaynes, adding that tables that will seat eight guests will be covered with linen tablecloths with dinner served on china plates. “We might be using the high school cafeteria, but it will not appear as one that night.”
National Honor Society members from Junior High West and Junior High East will be the guest dinner servers.
Another added plus to attending the dinner, said Jaynes, is that reserved premium seating for the musical will be included in the cost.
“Those in attendance will also have choice parking accommodations as they will be one of the first to arrive that evening,” he said.
The dinner will be served at 5:30 p.m.
Tickets are $40, which includes one ticket to the 7:30 p.m. musical performance. Only 200 tickets will be sold. No tickets will be sold at the door.
