Hundreds of couples renew vows in record attempt in Pittsburgh
Love is in the air in Pittsburgh. More than 600 couples gathered at the city’s Carnegie Music Hall on Sunday to renew their wedding vows in a ceremony they hoped would break a world record.
A Guinness World Records spokeswoman says the current record of 272 couples was set on Sept. 16, 2007, in Sydney, Australia.
It’s unclear when Guinness will make a determination about the Pittsburgh attempt.
The ceremony was held as part of a series of events commemorating Pittsburgh’s 250th anniversary.
Pittsburgh Mayor Luke Ravenstahl presided over the ceremony.
