Humbert R. Ventura Jr., 84 years, of Rockville, Maryland, passed away on Saturday, February 9, 2008.

Born on February 12,… Humbert R. Ventura Jr., 84 years, of Rockville, Maryland, passed away on Saturday, February 9, 2008.

Born on February 12, 1923, in Uniontown, Pennsylvania, he was the Son of Humbert Ventura and Mildred Fee Ventura.

He was a member of Saint Jude Roman Catholic Church and, until his death, a dedicated volunteer at Saint Jude’s Roman Catholic School for the past twelve years.

Humbert graduated from the Uniontown Area Senior High School.

He was a mail carrier for 34 years for the United States Post Office in Washington, D.C.

He was a veteran of the United States Army who served from February 1942 until he was Honorably Discharged in January 1946. He served in Africa and Italy and was awarded the Bronze Star for valor during the Battle of Mount Casino.

He also served for 30 years in the United States Army Reserves, retiring as a Master Sergeant.

He was preceded in death by his Parents, his beloved Wife, Lillian Burkland Ventura, Sister, Ann Deli, and his Brother, Eugene Ventura.

“Jr.”, as his family called him, is survived by his five loving and devoted Children: Douglas Ventura and his wife, Karen, of Frederick, Maryland, Cheryl Morrow and her husband, Jim, of Silver Spring, Maryland, Karen Dowdy and her husband, John, of Gaithersburg, Maryland, Donna Lanham of Poolesville, Maryland, and Linda Marion and her husband, Travis, of Rockville, Maryland, who lived with Humbert. He is also survived by ten grandchildren whom he adored; Brothers: Robert Ventura and his wife, Agnes, and William Ventura all of Uniontown, Pennsylvania; sisters: Mary Frances Brancato of Mentor, Ohio, Eleanor Sementa and her husband, Elmer, of Uniontown, Pennsylvania, and Barbara R. Ventura of Uniontown, Pennsylvania; several Nieces and Nephews.

Visitation and Funeral were held in Rockville, Maryland.
