Henry Clay Twp. Theft attempted
State police said an attempted theft involving First National Bank on Route 40 in Markleysburg is under investigation. Police said an unknown suspect used a cutting torch in an attempt to gain access to a money access machine, located in a separate kiosk from the bank, between 6 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. Saturday. Police said the suspect fled the scene without gaining access to money. Anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to call Trooper Timothy C. Knapp of the state police barracks in Uniontown at 724-415-1205.

Man charged
Leonard J. Marovich, 21, of Uniontown was charged with violating a protection from abuse order after he allegedly entered the 63 Lawn Ave. home of Marnie Faust at 9:54 p.m. Friday, city police said, noting that the order prohibited Marovich from contacting Faust.

Man charged
Joshua T. Gillingham, 25, of Finleyville was charged with possession of a controlled substance and forgery after he allegedly forged a prescription to obtain medication from Rite Aid, state police said, noting that Gillingham was apprehended when he arrived at the pharmacy at 7:50 p.m. Saturday to pick up the prescription.

Vehicle crash
Vehicles driven by Lori Bernard, 36, of Greensburg and Sandra T. Greer, 55, of Pittsburgh crashed on Route 119 at 9:10 a.m. Feb. 8, state police said. Police did not say if Bernard or Greer suffered injuries as a result of the crash.

State police said a 1994 Ford Explorer belonging to Robert Smitley, no address provided, was stolen from the Fairchance area between 11 p.m. Thursday and 8 a.m. Friday.

Purse stolen
Kristie Lee Ryczek, 38, of Smithfield reported her purse was allegedly stolen while at Redeemed Baptist Church around 1:15 p.m. Feb. 10, state police said, noting that the purse contained various credit cards, cash and a cell phone.

Gasoline stolen
State police said $76.01 worth of gasoline was stolen from the Sunoco service station on Memorial Boulevard at 8:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Vehicle painted
Cara Danielle Brooks, no address provided, reported her vehicle was vandalized with yellow paint Friday or Saturday while parked on Fayette Street, state police said.

Vehicle accident
State police said Paul L. Colsmann, 19, of Morgantown, W.Va., was not injured when the vehicle he was driving crashed on Route 43 at 10:15 p.m. Friday. Police said Colsmann’s vehicle struck the median dividing the road and went airborne for 20 feet before hitting an embankment and overturning.

Door broken
State police said an unknown person pushed a shopping cart through the front door of A+ Sports at the Crossroads Plaza between 10 p.m. Friday and 4 a.m. Saturday, causing the glass door to break.

Man cited
City police said Paul A. Thorpe, 36, of Uniontown was cited for a liquor law violation after officers allegedly saw him walking in the area of Park Avenue with an open can of beer in his hand at 3:53 p.m. Saturday. Police said Thorpe will receive the citation via summons.

City police said Deana Danko, 48, of Uniontown was cited for driving on a suspended license and other traffic-related citations following a traffic stop on North Gallatin Avenue at 3:40 p.m. Saturday.

City police said Brian Cross, 27, of Uniontown was cited with harassment after he allegedly assaulted his girlfriend, Jessica Savage, at their 30 E. Kerr St. residence at 11:16 p.m. Saturday.
