Delbert M. Bowers, 89 years, of Fairchance, Pa., passed away peacefully and went to be with his Savior and Lord… Delbert M. Bowers, 89 years, of Fairchance, Pa., passed away peacefully and went to be with his Savior and Lord Jesus Christ on Sunday, February 17, 2008.
He was born October 19, 1918, in Uniontown, Pa., the son of Andy Bowers and Edith Scott Bowers.
Delbert was a veteran of the United States Army who served during World War II.
He was a coal miner and worked in the coal mines until his retirement in 1981.
He was a member of the Free Methodist Church for 74 years.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Clell T. Bowers, and sisters, Alverda Franks, Evelyn Salipek and Mildred Trupkovich.
Surviving are his loving wife of 67 years, Margaret F. Crawford Bowers; loving children: D. Wayne Bowers and his wife Joan, Fairchance, Pa., Melvin C. Bowers and his wife Carmella, Uniontown, Pa., and Cheryl Ross and her husband Mark, Wellsburg, West Virginia; loving grandchildren: Melanie Hitchcock and her husband J.C., David Bowers and his wife Dawn, M. Craig Bowers and his wife Lori, Jeanette Tesauro and her husband Jan, Stephen Bowers, Andrew Ross and Nathan Ross; loving great-grandchildren: Shannon, Alexandria and Katlyn Tesauro, Daniel and Douglas Bowers, Courtney, Caleigh and Aaron Hitchcock and Aubree and Jace Bowers; brothers and sisters: Paul Bowers, Masontown, Pa., Orpha Wycinsky and Elroy Bowers both of Uniontown, Pa.; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends in the DEAN C. WHITMARSH FUNERAL HOME, 134 West Church Street, Fairchance, Pa., today, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. and on Wednesday, February 20, 2008, until 11 a.m., the hour of Service with the Rev. E. W. Cowsert officiating.
Interment will follow in LaFayette Memorial Park, Brier Hill, Pa., where Military Rites and Honors will be accorded by the Amvets Post 103.
