Irvin B. “June” Moon, Jr., 83, of West Brownsville, Pa., died Tuesday, February 19, 2008, after an extended illness.

He… Irvin B. “June” Moon, Jr., 83, of West Brownsville, Pa., died Tuesday, February 19, 2008, after an extended illness.

He was born August 18, 1924, to the late Irvin Moon, Sr. and Susan Stimmel Moon in Denbo, Pa.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Geraldine “Jerry” Gallagher Moon, son, Charles Irvin Moon, sister, Peggy Moon and brothers, Harold, James, Edward, and William Moon.

He is survived by his daughters: Dr. Nancy Pinardi and husband, David of West Brownsville, Pa. and Susan Otto and husband, Jason of Tucson, Arizona; six grandchildren: Jennifer Tafoya, Jason Otto, David Pinardi, Amanda Pinardi, Samantha and Zach Moon; three great-grandchildren: Lauren, Megan and Tony Tafoya; sister, Luann Moon McDonald and husband, Don of Brownsville, Pa.; and brother, Joseph Moon and wife, Virginia of Sarver, Pa.; and sister-in-law, Florence Moon of Sun City West, Arizona and many nieces and nephews.

He also leaves his many musician friends from Center in the Woods and Center on the Hill, who he played music with for many years. He had a special fondness for the Uniontown Mountains and loved outdoor activities.

He volunteered for the Army at the beginning of World War II. His tour of duty included serving aboard the USS Ancon as a communication specialist. He is a life member of the South Brownsville Methodist Church and the Brownsville Masonic Lodge No. 60. He was retired from J&L Steel Company.

He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

Friends will be received in the NOVAK FUNERAL HOME, 515 Front Street, Brownsville, Pa., on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and Friday until 10 a.m. the hour of service with the Rev. Janice McLay officiating.

Interment will follow at Lafayette Memorial Park, Brier Hill, Pa.

There will be a Masonic service in the funeral home Thursday at 7:30 p.m.

Military honors will be accorded by American Legion Posts 940, 838, 295.
