Mildred Viola “Vi” Novosel, 77 of Brownsville, Pa., (Low Hill) died Friday, February 15, 2008, in Monongahela Valley Hospital after… Mildred Viola “Vi” Novosel, 77 of Brownsville, Pa., (Low Hill) died Friday, February 15, 2008, in Monongahela Valley Hospital after a lengthy illness.
She was born April 24, 1930 in Smock, Pa., a daughter of the late Philip and Mildred Deihl Stinger.
Mrs Novosel was a graduate of Brownsville High School. In 1971, she graduated from California State Teachers College with a degree in Speech Pathology and Audiology. She received a Masters Degree in the same field in 1974, also from California State Teachers College.
In 1990, after 16 years of service, she retired from the Intermediate Unit as a speech pathologist/audiologist. She taught in Washington and Fayette County Schools and was a member of the P.S.E.R.S.
Mrs. Novosel enjoyed traveling with her family and friends, especially to Atlantic City and Las Vegas. She was an avid bingo player and reader.
On June 16, 1949 she married George Novosel who died January 20, 2000.
Surviving are two sisters: Clara Bohatch of Mentor, Ohio and Wanda Field (Harvey) of Uniontown, Pa.; four brothers: Eli Stinger (Carol) of Cleveland, Ohio, Walter Raymond Stinger of Eighty Four, Pa., Joseph Stinger (Vivian) of Kansas City, Mo. and Emil Stinger (Geraldine) of Uniontown, Pa.; two sisters-in-law: Josephine Svetnicka of Tucson, Ariz and Helen Prezgar of Monessen, Pa.; one brother-in-law, Steve Novosel (Barb) of Little River, S.C.; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and great-great-nieces and nephews.
Deceased in addition to her parents and husband are six sisters, Cleota Grant, Ruth Prugh, Doris Wolfe, Louise Pascale, Thelma Arneson and Shirley Ann Stinger who died in infancy; one brother, Philip Stinger.
Private funeral services were held Monday, February 18, 2008, in the GREENLEE FUNERAL HOME, 42 Bank Street at Crawford Road Fredericktown, Pa.
