Suspects sought in two robberies
State police are searching for two different suspects after gas stations in Menallen Township and Brownsville were held up within a day of each other. Trooper John F. Marshall said the first holdup occurred at 5:29 a.m. Monday when a man entered the Kwik Fill gas station on Route 40 in Menallen Township and demanded money from the cashier. He said the man told the store clerk that he had a bomb in his car. The clerk then told the suspect to leave the store.
Marshall said the man then grabbed a rack of cigarettes and attempted to pull them from the wall of the store before fleeing the business in a red Ford coupe.
Marshall said the suspect is described as a white man who was wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt, a knit cap and gloves. He said there was another man in the passenger seat of the vehicle the suspect fled in.
Marshall said officials were working to obtain video surveillance from the store.
Less than 24 hours later state police said a man held up the Sunoco A Plus gas station in Brownsville.
According to police, the man entered the store at 1:42 a.m. Tuesday and demanded money from the cashier. Police said he fled the store on foot with an undetermined amount of cash.
Police described the suspect as a black man with a goatee.
