Businesses raising money
Belmont Inn in Uniontown will be sponsoring numerous events during the next several weeks to raise money for the Multiple Sclerosis Society. Belmont Inn is beginning its 21st year being involved in the National Multiple Sclerosis U.G.L.Y. Bartender Contest. U.G.L.Y. is an acronym for Understanding, Generous, Loveable, You.
During February and March, local bars and restaurants hold fund-raisers while competing to see who can raise the most money.
Through the years, Belmont Inn has raised more than $195,000 for the cause.
Some of the events planned are a Cut-A-Thon at two local salons.
For a minimum donation of $5, hair will be cut from noon to 5 p.m. Sunday at Cut Ups, located at 795 Morgantown Road next to the Animal Medical Center, and at Salon Sabatini, located at 2151/2 Morgantown Road in Scott Lynn Square.
Refreshments will be available at both sites and no appointments are necessary.
Several other events are being planned.
The Belmont Inn and American Legion Post 51 in Uniontown will hold a cash bash at the Legion March 1. The legion hall is located on Gallatin Avenue.
Other upcoming activities include a spaghetti dinner, guest bartenders at the Belmont Inn and the main fund-raiser, “Up on the Roof,” when bar owner Jim Santilli spends 72 hours camped out on the roof of his business.
Dates and times of future fund-raisers will be announced.
