Prante-Cook
Amy Elizabeth Cook of Arlington, Va., became the bride of Gerald Thomas Prante of Annandale, Va., in a ceremony celebrated Nov. 24 at the Abundant Life Church, Uniontown. The bride is the daughter of Nicholas and Susan Cook of Uniontown. The bridegroom is the son of Jerry and Sandy Prante of Woodsmill Drive, Stauton, Ill.
Given in marriage by her father, who also officiated, the bride wore an A-line princess cut gown with scoop neckline of Italian white matte satin with floral and vine embroidery and semi-cathedral train, all embellished with crystals and beads. A veil of illusion was held by a band of crystal flowers and beads.
Matron of honor was Dr. Laura Cook Kenna, sister of the bride. Bridesmaids were Andrea Prante, sister of the bridegroom, and Gretchen Holtz.
Best man was Thomas Mertz, cousin of the bridegroom. Ushers were Matt and Will Prante, twin cousins of the bridegroom.
A reception was held at the Uniontown Country Club.
The bride is a 1998 graduate of Laurel Highlands High School and a 2002 graduate of Indiana University of Pennsylvania with a bachelor of science degree in elementary education. She is employed at McLean Presbyterian Church, Va., after teaching three years in Warrenton, Va.
The bridegroom is a 2000 graduate of Staunton High School and a 2002 graduate of Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville with bachelor degrees in economics and political science. In 2004, he completed a master’s degree in economics at Southern Illinois University where he also taught. He is pursing a doctorate in economics at George Mason University, now in the dissertation phase.
He is employed as senior economist with the Tax Foundation in Washington, D.C.
The newlyweds honeymooned at St. Thomas, Virgin Islands. They reside at Bellforest Court, Vienna, Va.
