Peter Tarko, 88, of Collier, Uniontown, Pa., passed away February 24, 2008, in Hillside Manor of Uniontown.

He was born June 17, 1919, in Collier, Pa., son of the late Michael Tarko and Mary Woodmaska Tarko.
Pete was predeceased by his parents, loving wife, Margaret E. Hobaugh Tarko, brothers, Michael Tarko and John Tarko, sisters, Mary Reynolds, Margaret Kopas and most recently on February 8, 2008, Helen Thompson and niece, Patricia Kopas.
He was a World War II veteran serving in the United States Army from 1941 to 1945.
Pete was a retired dairy farmer.
He was a member of Saint John the Baptist Byzantine Catholic Church of Uniontown and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 47 of Uniontown.
Surviving are his two loving children: Michael Richard Tarko of Fort Worth, Texas, and Pamela Jo Minnick and husband, Stephen Minnick of New Philadelphia, Ohio; two loving grandchildren: Matthew Vincent Minnick and Amanda Marie Minnick; and nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends in the DEAN C. WHITMARSH FUNERAL HOME, 134 West Church Street, Fairchance, Pa.. on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and on Saturday, March 1, 2008, until 1p.m. when a Panachida Service will be held with the Rev. Father Thomas Wesdock officiating.
Interment will follow in LaFayette Memorial Park, Brier Hill, Pa., with Military Rites being accorded by VFW Post 47.
