By Josh Krysak 1 min read

GERMAN TWP. – State police are searching for a woman accused of beating a Smithfield woman unconscious in German Township Tuesday. Trooper Douglas Rush said in a press release that the suspect allegedly approached the 36-year-old woman, who was not identified, around 2 p.m. at a location of Sunshine Hollow Road and threatened her regarding an upcoming protection-from abuse hearing.

Rush said that the suspect allegedly told the woman that if he attended the hearing, which is scheduled for today, “things would get worse.”

Rush said the suspect then grabbed the woman by her shirt and punched her in the face knocking her unconscious.

He said the alleged victim was taken to Uniontown Hospital for facial injuries.

The suspect was described as a white woman in her mid-20s, about 5 feet 5 inches tall, weighing about 175 pounds, with long brown curly hair. She fled the scene following the altercation in a blue Chevrolet Corsica or Chevrolet Beretta, police said.

Rush said he is continuing to investigate the alleged assault.

Anyone with information is asked to call the state police at 724-439-7111.
