Benedict R. “Bennie” Kula, 92, of Continental 3, Pa., died on Sunday, December 30, 2007, in LaFayette Manor Nursing Home,… Benedict R. “Bennie” Kula, 92, of Continental 3, Pa., died on Sunday, December 30, 2007, in LaFayette Manor Nursing Home, Uniontown, Pa.
He was born on February 2, 1915, in York Run, Pa., son of John and Kathryn (Potkul) Kula.
The last member of his immediate family, he was preceded in death by his parents, and many brothers and sisters.
Bennie was a lifelong member of Saint Joseph Roman Catholic Church and served as an usher for many years. He was a graduate of Georges High School, retired from Robena Mine where he was a coal miner for 47 years and was a member of UMWA District 2. Bennie was devoted to his family and was a good husband, he will be deeply missed by his family and many friends.
Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 68 years, Marie (Stoviak) Kula; three daughters: Carolyn C. Karpinsky and husband, John of Cuyahoga, Ohio, Connie M. Peton and husband, Stanley of Smock, Pa., and Marcia Deal and husband, “J.R.” of Uniontown, Pa.; ten grandchildren: John Karpinsky and wife, Lori, Greg Karpinsky and wife, Jennifer, Scott Karpinsky, Michelle Taylor and husband, Jeff, Lori Schmitt and husband, Robert, Craig Peton and wife, Holly, Stacey Peton, David Peton, Jason Deal and Eric Deal; and many nieces and nephews and their families.
Friends will be received in the STEPHEN R. HAKY FUNERAL HOME, INC., 603 North Gallatin Avenue Extension, Uniontown, Pa., today, January 2, 2008, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and on Thursday, January 3, 2008 until 9:30 a.m. when prayers of transfer will be said.
A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10 a.m. in Saint Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Old Walnut Hill Road, Uniontown, Pa., with his nephew Rev. Father Leonard Stoviak as Celebrant and his pastor Rev. Father Alexander L. Pleban as Concelebrant.
Interment will follow at Mount Macrina Cemetery, Uniontown, Pa.,
In lieu of flowers please offer memorial contributions to Saint Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church.
Saint Joseph’s Parish Family Vigil by the Ministry of Consolation will be held today at 3 p.m. followed by the Saint Joseph’s Confraternity of Christian Mothers Rosary at 3:15 p.m.
