James R. “Bob” Kooser, 80, of Brownfield, Pa., died Monday, December 31, 2007, at home.

He was born July 30, 1927, in Little Brownfield, Pa., son of the late Carl Kooser Sr. and Mary Etta Manges Kooser.
He was predeceased by a son, James R. Kooser II, an infant brother, one sister, Margaret Ester, a brother, William Kooser Sr. and three grandsons, Todd Allen Kooser, Mark Robert Kooser and Chad Kristopher Kooser.
Surviving are his wife of 40 years, Elizabeth Smith Kooser; three children: Ronald K. Kooser and his wife, Carolyn of Great Valley, New York, Gary E. Kooser and his wife, Sherry of Little Valley, New York and Lori B. Geisler and her husband, Lawrence of South Connellsville, Pa.; a daughter-in-law, Alice Kooser of Oliver, Pa.; four grandchildren: Timothy Kooser of Springville, New York, Heather Kooser of Little Valley, New York, Andrew Kooser of Jamestown, New York and Lindsay Geisler of South Connellsville, Pa.; one great-granddaughter, Malaina Heitzenrater of Little Valley, New York; one sister, Evelyn Belovarac of Erie, Pa.; one brother, Carl Kooser, Jr. of Brownfield, Pa. and several nieces and nephews.
Bob was a veteran of World War II who served in the United States Navy. He also was a retired steelworker from the Homestead Works of United States Steel Corporation.
The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Home Health Care, Dr. David Murello and friends and neighbors, Kim and Jeff Helmick.
Friends will be received in the GOLDSBORO-TOMI FUNERAL HOME, 21 East Church Street, Fairchance, Pa., today, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and on Thursday, January 3, 2008, until 10 a.m., the hour of service with the Rev. Randy Costolo officiating.
Interment will follow in Mountain View Memorial Park, Brownfield, Pa.
Graveside Military Rites will be accorded at the cemetery.
