State police continue probe of fatal accident

By Josh Krysak 1 min read

State police are continuing to investigate an accident that killed a pedestrian in Unity Township, Westmoreland County, in December. Police said a vehicle driven by Scott M. Rodman, 22, of Scottdale struck Adam J. Dunn, 18, of Latrobe as he was walking on Marguerite Lake Road at 4:01 a.m. Dec. 23.

An official from the Westmoreland County Coroner’s office pronounced Dunn dead at the scene shortly after the crash.

Representatives from the coroner’s office said Thursday that Dunn died as a result of “multiple blunt-force traumas” but did not elaborate.

No charges have been filed against Rodman. Police said the crash remains under investigation.

According to Trooper David J. McClintock, the crash occurred when Rodman, traveling southbound on Marguerite Lake Road, encountered Dunn, who was walking in the southbound lane of the road, and struck him.

Rodman as well as passenger Jonathon Robb of Greensburg were not injured, police said.

McClintock was not available for comment Thursday.
