Overbid on Drew Carey?
So Bob Barker left the price is right and in came Drew Carey. Seemed to be a great move right?….
Eh… not so much. So Bob Barker left the price is right and in came Drew Carey. Seemed to be a great move right?….
Eh… not so much.
I will admit it, I was fairly excited when I found out Drew Carey was coming on board to take over the helm of the juggernaut of game shows. I finally had the chance of the holidays to tune in and I will tell you one thing, the show has lost what it once was.
I watched a completely unenthusiastic Drew Carey get contestants up on stage and just sort of stand there. Contestants run up on stage as they always have to a host who just does not seem to fit the part. I always thought Drew was a funny guy but he does not put any of his genuine humor into this show. Maybe it is just Drew trying to work his way into the part but so far, no good.
The show itself has not changed, and I thought the absence of Bob Barker would not so much be missed but he really did make the show what it was. Of course all of this judgment could be coming out of my youth when I always watched Bob and loved every second of the show. He never got really attached to a contestant but he always showed at least some enthusiasm. In general I suppose I saw the same kind of hope out of Drew Carey but that has proven to come up false. Maybe in a few months he will have some comfort level and he will emerge as a great host.
For now however, the price is wrong.
