Sheila Irene Roscoe, of State College, Pa., and formerly of Uniontown, Pa., died suddenly Sunday evening, January 6, 2008, at… Sheila Irene Roscoe, of State College, Pa., and formerly of Uniontown, Pa., died suddenly Sunday evening, January 6, 2008, at Mount Nittany Medical Center, located in State College.
Sheila was the daughter of Jack L. and Margaret Roscoe of Uniontown, Pa.
Sheila was born on January 3, 1954, and recently returned to State College after having celebrated her 54th birthday with her family in Uniontown.
She was predeceased in 2007 by her mother, Margaret Reilly Roscoe and her brother-in-law, Joseph A. Gessner.
Sheila is survived by her father, Jack L. Roscoe of Uniontown, Pa., sisters: Patricia Roscoe Gessner of Uniontown, Pa. and Elaine Roscoe Prestia and husband, Carmine of State College, Pa. Also surviving are nieces: Laura J. Gessner and husband, Dr. Eric B. Brauns, Beth Gessner Palamara and husband, Paul of Bay Village, Ohio and nephews: Andrew Prestia and wife, Katie and Christopher Prestia of State College as well as great-nieces: Hannah and Grace Palamara of Bay Village, Ohio; uncles: Ronald Roscoe and wife, Mary Anne and Richard Roscoe and wife, Kathleen.
A 1972 graduate of Union town Area High School, Sheila also graduated from the Pennsylvania State University in State College, Pa. in May of 1976, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Art Education. She then earned a Masters of Education degree in Art Education the following year.
Sheila was last employed as New Accounts Administrator associated with Peoples National Bank, now known as Omega Bank, in State College, Pa. She had previously worked in the same position for The Bank of Arizona in Sun City, Ariz. as will as serving as Notary Public.
Despite Sheila’s diagnosis of Multiple Sclerosis, she had demonstrated an inordinate love of life, including interests in music, animals, nature and politics. Her gift of talent in various forms of artistic endeavors continued, even as her physical abilities faltered. Sheila made an impression on all those who come to know her and was known among her family members and community acquaintances as an active participant who always wanted to be “in the loop”. She was affectionately known to nieces and nephews as “Our Aunt She-She”.
Friends will be received in the KEZMARSKY FUNERAL HOME, 71 Pennsylvania Avenue, Uniontown, Pa., today, January 10, 2008, from 7 to 9 p.m., Friday, January 11, 2008, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and Saturday, January 12, 2008, until 9 a.m. when Prayers of Transfer will be said followed by a 9:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial in Saint John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church with the Rev. Father Michael J. Crookston as Celebrant.
Interment follows in Oak Grove Cemetery.
