Senior center December started with a bang at the Masontown Senior Center. The Site Council met on Dec. 3 and the first Advent candle was lit.

Pearl Harbor was remembered with readings by Virginia McCann and trivia on World War II was discussed. Many members recalled where they were and how they were affected by the events.

A Christmas dinner was served on Dec. 15 with entertainment by Doris Whiting and Carol Atwood.

A Christmas party was held, with singing by Dave Townsend, who later led carols for center members. Each person present received a packet to make “Snowman Soup” and several door prizes were awarded.

The final Advent service was held on Dec. 24, led by Clara Delaney with help from Nila Rowe and Edna Jones.

Birthday celebrants for December included Mary Corob, Joe Collins and Mary Steinman.

“Members are looking forward to a new year with much expectation that the center will continue to grow. You could be a part of that excitement by attending and joining in all the activities and fellowship,’ a spokesman said.
