Local police seek slaying suspect
Uniontown police are searching for a Pittsburgh man after Allegheny County homicide detectives alerted local police Monday evening that he is wanted in a murder and could be hiding in Uniontown.
Allegheny County and North Braddock police said they have obtained a warrant for the arrest of Bryant Jones, 20, of 809 Franklin St., on the charges of criminal homicide, burglary and robbery in the shooting death of Randy Edwards, 26, of North Braddock. Police said Edwards was shot multiple times by Jones at his home on Ridge Avenue Sunday.
Uniontown police said homicide detectives, accompanied by Pittsburgh police and representatives from the Allegheny County district attorney’s office, notified police of the warrant and requested police assistance to search three homes in Uniontown Monday night.
Uniontown officers, with the help of a city K-9 unit, searched the homes but were unable to locate Jones.
State police also assisted with the searches.
Police described Jones as a black man, about 5 feet 6 inches tall and weighing 135 pounds. Police said he has black hair and light brown eyes.
Police said Jones is known to frequent Uniontown.
