Jeanette C. “Patti” Sterling, 88, of Masontown, Pa., passed away peacefully, Sunday evening, January 20, 2008, in Country Meadows Nursing… Jeanette C. “Patti” Sterling, 88, of Masontown, Pa., passed away peacefully, Sunday evening, January 20, 2008, in Country Meadows Nursing Home, Bridgeville, Pa.
She was born in Martin, Pa., on January 31, 1919, a daughter of the late Harry C. Curstead and Nell Patterson Curstead.
She was the last surviving member of her immediate family and in addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Bruce W. Sterling, Sr., two sisters, Thelma Snyder and Nell Louise Allen.
She attended Bethany College and was a member and Elder of the First Presbyterian Church of Masontown.
Mrs. Sterling was also a member and Past Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star, Ideal Chapter, 263 of Uniontown. She was Past State President of the National Association of Postal Supervisors, Auxiliary and Past National Secretary of Postal Supervisors Auxiliary.
She is survived by two sons: Bruce W. Sterling, Jr and his wife, Patti of Uniontown, Pa and Jeffrey W. Sterling and his wife, Jan of Greentree, Pittsburgh, Pa; four grandchildren: Janell Butorac and husband, Robert of Perrysville, Pittsburgh, Pa., Susan McDevitt and husband, Andrew of Paramus, N.J., Lindsay Oudsema and husband, Rob of Stamford, Conn. and Mathew Sterling of Pittsburgh, Pa; four great-grandchildren: Mark and Bradley Butorac and Ryan and Samantha McDevitt.
The family will receive friends in the JOHN F. BROWNFIELD FUNERAL HOME of Smithfield, Pa., today, January 23, 2008 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. and on Thursday from 10 a.m. until noon when services will be conducted with Reverend William Rodahaver of Third Presbyterian Church, Uniontown, Pa., officiating.
Interment will follow in Oak Lawn Cemetery Uniontown, Pa.
Memorial contributions may be made in Patti’s memory to the First Presbyterian Church of Masontown, Pa.
The Order of the Eastern Star will hold Ritualistic Services this evening at 7 p.m.
