William Melroy Walls, 84, of Fairchance, Pa., passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 20, 2008, at his home with his… William Melroy Walls, 84, of Fairchance, Pa., passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 20, 2008, at his home with his loving family at his bedside.
He was born October 19, 1923, in Fairchance, Pa., the son of the late Franklin Walls and Perie Myers-Walls.
“Bill” owned and operated Walls Construction Company from 1972 through 1992.
He was a member of Faith Assembly of God in Uniontown, Pa., and was a decorated Veteran of World War II who served in the United States Army as a T/Sgt. Combat Medic. “Bill” was a Purple Heart recipient and served valiantly in the Battle of the Bulge.
Bill and his wife, Ann Bartko Walls, were married on December 3, 1943 and celebrated 64 years of marriage this past December. He was an avid fisherman and a shining example of Christianity-Bill was loved, admired and respected by all.
He was predeceased by an infant son, Terry Lee Walls, an infant granddaughter, LeAnne Rode, his parents, a brother, Oscar Walls, sisters, Viola Walls-Hickle, Elna Walls-Toles and Eva Walls-Moser.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Ann Bartko Walls; four children: William I. Walls and his wife, Judy, of Fairchance, Pa., Murrel “Bud” Walls and his wife, Donna, of Independence, Kentucky, Judy Walls-Rode and her husband, Leo, of Farmington, Pa., and Pastor Ken Walls and his wife, Thelma, of Fairchance, Pa.; eight grandchildren: Scott Walls and his wife, Marcy, of Erie, Pa., Lisa Rode-Jellick and her husband, Ron, of Pittsburgh, Pa., Waylon Walls and his wife, Margie, of York, Pa., Adrian Walls and his wife, Krisa, of Uniontown, Pa., Stacy Walls of Pittsburgh, Pa., Jennifer Walls-Ritter and her husband, William, of Covington, Kentucky, Allison Walls-Moore and her husband, Randy, and Joshua Walls all of Uniontown, Pa.; 11 great-grandchildren: Amy Walls, Cristi Walls, Lindsey Walls, Sara Walls, William Walls, Tristan Walls, Randy Moore, Sydney Moore, Connor Moore, Riley Walls and Avery Walls; sisters and brother: Mabel Walls-Merrill of Greensburg, Pa., Irvin Walls of Dubois, Pa., and Betty Walls-Chappell of Fairchance, Pa.; and numerous nieces and nephews, including beloved niece, Carol Bricker-Morgan.
The family will receive friends in the GOLDSBORO-TOMI FUNERAL HOME, 21 East Church Street, Fairchance, Pa., today, January 23, 2008, until 11 a.m., the hour of Service with the Rev. Ken Walls officiating.
Interment will follow in Mountain View Memorial Park, Brownfield, Pa.
Military Rites and Honors will be accorded at graveside.
