Hopwood mad charged with sexual assault involving 12-year-old girl
State police have charged a Hopwood man with statutory sexual assault after he allegedly had sex with a 12-year-old Smithfield girl in December. Adam Lee Robinson, 18, of Shellie Street in the Huggins Mobile Home Park also was charged before Magisterial District Judge Joseph M. George Jr. with corruption of minors for the alleged assault, which occurred two times late last year.
State police Trooper James A. Pierce said Robinson, who also maintains a Farmington address, met the girl at a business in South Union Township in December.
Later that month, Pierce said Robinson, along with his brother, picked the girl up at her home and drove her to Robinson’s brother’s home on Shellie Street.
Pierce said Robinson and the girl had sex two times at the residence.
Additionally, Pierce said Robinson told police that he and the girl smoked marijuana.
Robinson was released on $15,000 unsecured bond following his arraignment Wednesday.
A preliminary hearing is tentatively set for Wednesday before George.
Robinson has no prior criminal record, according to Fayette County Court records.
