READING PROGRAM – The Greene County Library System is now holding its summer reading program sessions. All sessions will be held on Wednesdays at the following times: 10-11 a.m. at the Thomas Hughes House in Jefferson; 1-2 p.m. at the Bobtown-Dunkard Reading Center in Bobtown; and 5:30-6:30 p.m. at the Jackson Township Reading Center in Holbrook. SCHOOL REUNIONS – West Greene High School Classes of 1988 and 1989 will hold a combined reunion on Aug. 8, 2008, at the school gym, beginning at 6:30 p.m. The event is casual dress and there is no admission fee. FRIDAY DANCES – Friday night dances are held weekly at the Carmichaels Senior Center, with different bands providing the entertainment each week. This week’s band is “Sound Of Country,” and dancing runs from 7 – 11 p.m. Cost of admission is $7 per person.
FOOD PROGRAM – The East Franklin Grange No. 1709 is a distribution host site for the Angel Food Ministry on the last Saturday of each month. This community service project for the grange is sponsored by the Lone Pine Christian Church. The grange is handicapped accessible, and assistance in carrying out boxes is available. WEIGHT LOSS SUPPORT – “Take Off Pounds Sensibly” or TOPS is an international non-profit weight loss support group that will meet at the Bowlby Library each Saturday at 9:30 a.m. New members are invited to join. Call 724-627-9776.
AEROBICS CLASSES – Greene County Department of Recreation Aerobics Classes are held every Tuesday and Thursday in the 4-H Building on the Greene County Fairgrounds. Pilates are held at 5 p.m. with Aerobics at 6 p.m. For more information, call 724-852-5323.
PRAYER SERVICES – Servant Song Ministries will host Healing Prayer with Rev. Peter Ostrander each Wednesday from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. The ministry follows standard Christian patterns of prayer, laying-on-of-hands, and anointing in a way respectful of various Church traditions and personal boundaries. CLOTHING DRIVE – The Salvation Army-Greene County Service Center will be accepting applications for the back-to-school clothing program from July 7-31. In addition to clothing, the Salvation Army will be accepting applications for school supplies. Income eligible parents requesting assistance for children in Kindergarten through 12th grade must stop at the Service Center on West First Street in Waynesburg.
