Man sentenced for beating death

1 min read

PITTSBURGH (AP) – A man has been sentenced to five to 15 years in prison for killing a teenager with a brick. Twenty-one-year-old Kenneth Warywoda, of Greenfield, was sentenced Tuesday in the 2006 beating death of 17-year-old Joshua Schuffert. A co-defendant, 20-year-old Anthony Hively, of Greenfield, was also sentenced to four years’ probation for simple assault and conspiracy.

Warywoda had been convicted in April of involuntary manslaughter and conspiracy in Shuffert’s death.

Authorities say Schuffert died after a group of youths fought following a New Year’s Eve party. According to court documents, the trouble that led to Schuffert’s death began months before over a girl that Schuffert and Warywoda were both dating.
