FAMILY REUNION – A reunion of the McCracken family will be held at Lions Club Park in Waynesburg on Sunday, July 27. Those attending should gather at 11 a.m. and be ready to eat at 12 p.m. Those attending are asked to bring a dish to share. For more information, call 727-863-4570. VBS EVENT – Calvary Baptist Church of Lippincott will hold vacation bible school from Sunday, July 20 – Thursday, July 24 from 6:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. each night. YARD SALE – The 17th annual Cabbage Flats all-town yard sale on Route 88 in Greensboro will be held on Saturday, July 29.
SQUARE DANCE – A square dance will be held on Saturday, July 12, from 7 – 10 p.m. at Harvey’s Grange on Rt. 21 in Graysville. Dave Dahl will be the caller and food and drink will be available.
ANNUAL REUNION – Descendants of John Mack and Nancy Johnson Phillips will hold their 36th annual reunion on Saturday, July 19 in the lower level of building 10 at the Greene County Fairgrounds. Dinner will be at 12 p.m. with social time continuing until 4 p.m. Each family is asked to bring a covered dish.
BIBLE SCHOOL – Bobtown United Methodist Church will hold Bible school from Monday, July 14 through Friday, July 18. Each night’s events will run from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Coordinators Cathy Ealy and Melinda Williams request that each child bring an I.D. and the phone number of a contact.
SPECIAL EVENT – The Warrior Trail Association is presenting “Born of Fire: Songs of Steel and Industry” by Paula Purnell at their covered-dish dinner meeting at the Warrior Trail Headquarters in Fordyce on July 17 at 6:30 p.m. Paula is an educator and musician who has released six albums of original music. READING ROADTRIP – The Bowlby Library is taking a “Reading Roadtrip” during this year’s Scholastic Book Fair. Monday – Saturday, July 14 – 26, pack your bags to take a reading road trip across the nation where you’ll find carloads of books for every kind of traveler. Proceeds from sales from the event will purchase new books for the children’s department. For more information, call 724-627-9776.
YOUTH SOCCER – Youths wishing to participate in the Greene County Youth Soccer program this fall can now sign up for registration. Registration forms can be printed out a registration form at www.greenesoccer.org and mailed to PO Box 23 Waynesburg PA 15370. The deadline to mail is June 30, 2008. There is a cost for registration.
SCHOOL REUNIONS – West Greene High School Classes of 1988 and 1989 will hold a combined reunion on August 8, 2008 at the school gym, beginning at 6:30 p.m. The event is casual dress and there is no admission fee. CLOTHING DRIVE – The Salvation Army-Greene County Service Center will be accepting applications for the back-to-school clothing program from July 7-31. In addition to clothing, the Salvation Army will be accepting applications for school supplies. Income eligible parents requesting assistance for children in Kindergarten through 12th grade must stop at the Service Center on West First Street in Waynesburg.
