National City donates $10,000 to assistance program
National City Bank, through the Pennsylvania Neighborhood Assistance Program, has donated $10,000 to the Fayette County Community Action Agency Inc. (FCCAA). “The overall objective of the Pennsylvania Neighborhood Assistance Program (NAP) is to help improve distressed neighborhoods and communities through the creation of an effective partnership between community-based organizations and the business and corporate community,’ Jim Stark, FCCAA CEO said.
“The Neighborhood Assistance Program is not a grant program, but an ‘incentive’ program that provides tax credits to corporations that make contributions to or administer approved programs. We are profoundly touched and greatly appreciate this generous donation,” Stark added.
“National City strives to fulfill its mission to enhance the quality of life and make a difference in the communities where the bank has a major presence through programs of this nature. We are pleased and proud to be a part of the region that the Fayette County Community Action Agency serves so well,” said Angela J. Longo, National City Bank vice president and director of philanthropic programs.
FCCAA has worked to improve social and economic conditions in Fayette County by helping disadvantaged individuals achieve self-sufficiency. Through a variety of human service and educational programs, FCCAA targets assistance to disadvantaged individuals – particularly families, children, and the aged.
Over the years, FCCAA has developed a full range of more than 70 programs and services to meet the needs of the Fayette County community.
As a major coordinating center for human service programs in Fayette County, FCCAA assists more than 30,000 residents annually out of the county’s population of approximately 148,600 people.
