City business authroity seeks board members
Uniontown’s Downtown Business District Authority (DBDA) is seeking new members to serve on its board of directors. Those interested must be a resident of Uniontown or a professional or merchant with a primary office or business located within the city’s central business district.
In partnership with the Uniontown Redevelopment Authority, the DBDA is currently administering the city’s new Main Street Program. Therefore, current and new board members are expected to be highly involved in the Main Street Program’s four-point approach to community revitalization. The four-point approach is executed through committees charged with focusing on the elements of design, promotion, organization and economic restructuring in the central business district.
The DBDA reviews all applications before making recommendations for appointments to Uniontown City Council, which appoints members. The DBDA has seven board members, but can have as many as 13. The DBDA holds its business meetings on the second Tuesday of each month at 3 p.m. and a work session on the forth Monday of each month at 9 a.m. at the Fayette Chamber of Commerce at 65 W. Main St.
The DBDA’s signature project in recent years has been the Storey Square Summer Concert Series, which is held on Mondays during the summer months from 5:30 until 7:30 p.m.
