Motorcycle accident claims Perryopolis man
A 21-year-old Perryopolis man was killed early Saturday after losing control of his motorcycle in a high-speed accident on Route 51, state police said. Corey Allen Silbaugh was traveling south at a high rate of speed and failed to negotiate a left-hand curve in the road at 2:30 a.m., police said.
He lost control of the 2006 Honda CBR 600 F4I he was driving and the bike laid down on its left side before colliding with a guide rail about a quarter-mile south of Route 201, police said, adding that he was wearing a helmet.
Fayette County Coroner Phillip E. Reilly said the young man was thrown from the bike and his helmet, which showed signs of an impact, came off.
The cause of death was a cervical neck spine injury and Silbaugh also suffered road burns, Reilly said.
Reilly said the death was accidental and toxicology test results are due in a couple weeks.
No autopsy will be conducted, he said.
The Harry J. Johnston Funeral Home on North Gallatin Avenue in Uniontown is handling the funeral arrangements.
