Bernice Ruble Hlatky, 85, of Smithfield, Pa., passed away Tuesday, July 29, 2008, in the Uniontown Hospital.
Born October… Bernice Ruble Hlatky, 85, of Smithfield, Pa., passed away Tuesday, July 29, 2008, in the Uniontown Hospital.
Born October 26, 1922, in Lake Lynn, Pa., she was a daughter of the late Leon and Vera Kanapky Ruble.
A member of the Lake Lynn Community Chapel, she had worked for ten years as the janitor at the Richhill School in Springhill Township. In her leisure time, she enjoyed playing board games and cards.
Surviving are her six sons and their wives: George A. and Norma Hlatky, Andrew T. “Sam” and Karen Hlatky, John and Gladys Hlatky, Robert and Monica Hlatky, and Steven and Amy Hlatky all of Smithfield, and Paul Hlatky and his fiancée, Carla of Briar Hill, Pa.; 14 grandchildren: Letha Sutton, Sam, George, Jr., Roger, and Andy Hlatky, Christine Yanak, Sammy and Bill Hlatky, Stacey Guthrie, Cherie, Angie, Paul, Steve, and Brian Hlatky; 23 great-grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; two brothers: Bernard Ruble of Lake Lynn and Arthur Ruble of Carlisle, Kentucky; and three sisters: Kathryn Millazo of Amityville, New York, Delores Ruble of Smithfield, and Lois Jenkins of Connellsville.
Predeceased is her husband, Andy Hlatky on November 25, 1998, two sons, Leon James and Delbert Joseph, four brothers, Frank Kanapky, Robert, Thomas and Leon Ruble, and two sisters, Jane Miller and Esther Mankins.
Friends will be received in the RICHARD R. HEROD FUNERAL HOME, Point Marion on Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m., and Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., and Saturday until 11 a.m., the hour of service.
Interment follows in Mount Moriah Baptist Cemetery, Smithfield.
