Local musician punding away, literally
Giving back to the community is something that really means a lot to local musician Chris Higbee. As the temperatures and humidity were soaring throughout the day Thursday, Higbee traded in his signature fiddle for a hammer and got busy helping out the Central Westmoreland Habitat for Humanity building a home for a local family in Jeannette.
Higbee said the home was being built for Cherish Brown and her son, Cameron, and said that Habitat is a great way to give back to the community.
He added that so many people in southwestern Pennsylvania have given him so much support over the years that he enjoys giving back when he can.
He’ll also be performing a benefit concert with his new band, The Chris Higbee Project, at the Pitt Greensburg gymnasium Friday evening at 8 p.m. Doors open at 7 p.m., and tickets are $15 on the day of the show.
Higbee said all proceeds will benefit the Central Westmoreland Habitat for Humanity.
