Authority advances sewerage extension project

By Josh Krysak 2 min read

The Fairchance Georges Sewage Authority is moving forward with a sewerage extension project on Route 119. The extension, which will be installed by John T. Subrick Contracting Inc. of Belle Vernon, will extend sewage lines to 36 residences along Route 119, from the Lucky Star restaurant to the Skylark Tavern.

Authority members Monday approved a notice for Subrick to proceed with the project and announced that construction of the extension should begin in the next few days.

In other business, the authority heard from Gidget Stratiff of Fairchance about a sewage problem at her home on Mountain Road.

Stratiff said for that two years since sewage lines were extended onto her property, she has had water collecting in an area of her yard making the section of her property impassable.

She said water sits in the yard several inches deep year round and said that recently she became aware that it has caused damage to her swimming pool.

Stratiff told the authority that she has contacted municipal officials from the authority and the sewage department dozens of times to no avail.

Several authority members agreed to help Stratiff with the problem and will meet at her property today to review the situation.

The authority also heard a complaint from Roy and Delores Myers about costs associated with extending sewage lines to their property.

The authority instructed the couple to seek government assistance to help pay for the extension.

In a separate matter, the authority reminded area residents that if they are delinquent with their monthly sewage payments citations will be filed at Magisterial District Judge Randy S. Abraham’s office.
