Uniontown John joins local law firm

Simon B. John and Anne N. John have announced that Bernard C. John has joined the John & John law practice at 96 E. Main St., Uniontown.

Bernard C. John is a third-generation attorney in Fayette County, following in the footsteps of his grandfather, the late Bernard T. John, who died in 1996; his father, Simon B. John, and aunt, Anne N. John.

Bernard C. John graduated from Geibel Catholic High School in Connellsville in 1997 and received his undergraduate degree in May 2001 from Denison University, a private liberal arts college in Granville, Ohio. He obtained his law degree in June 2004 from Duquesne University School of Law in Pittsburgh.

For nearly three-and-a-half years, John was responsible for defense work on behalf of Fortune 100 clients and lending organizations, as well as commercial arbitration matters at a large law firm in the Washington, D.C., metropolitan area.

Neubauer’s has new Web site

Neubauer’s Flowers, Inc. has announced the launch of its new Web site – www.neubauersflowers.com. The user-friendly Web site design features large, crisp photographs of floral arrangements, easy navigation for special-occasion purchases and a streamlined checkout process.

“The new Web site design was selected with our customers in mind. It is our goal to make it is as convenient as possible to purchase high-quality floral arrangements and gifts from anywhere,” said Steve Neubauer, president and general manager of Neubauer’s Flowers, Inc.

The new Web site design is only one part of Neubauer’s Flowers expanding business. In the past couple years, Neubauer’s has been offering their customers an array of upscale gift items from well-known designers such as D.L. & Co., Agraria Home Fragrance, Bethany Lowe Designs, and Mark Roberts.

Markleysburg

Baird new bank manager

Violet M. Baird has joined First National Bank as branch manager of the Old Trails office in Markleysburg. She is responsible for all aspects of branch administration, as well as development of deposit, asset generation and business banking services.

Baird was most recently a licensed financial consultant with National City Bank in Connellsville.

She also has experience as a banking representative for State Farm Insurance and as a branch manager for CitiFinancial, both in Uniontown.

A graduate of Connellsville High School, she earned a bachelor of science degree in business administration from Suffield University in Twin Falls, Idaho, and an advanced individual banking degree from Brevard Community College in Melbourne, Fla.

She is a T-ball coach and manager in the R.W. Clark Youth Baseball League in Uniontown, where she resides with her husband, Russell J. Baird, and son, Russell J. Baird Jr. The family owns and races car number 92 at Roaring Knob Motorsports Complex in Markleysburg.

Uniontown

Tourist train expands run

The Fayette Central Railroad (F.C.R.R.), Fayette County’s only tourist train, has expanded its run this year to include a trip to Fairchance.

Scenic trains rides are offered Saturdays and Sundays through Dec. 21 north and south on tracks running through the coal and coke region of the Laurel Highlands foothills.

All trains board at the Laurel Business Institute parking lot off Gallatin Avenue in Uniontown at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. both days. Saturday trips also board in Dunbar on Bridge Street at 12:30 p.m. Sunday trips also board in Fairchance on Church Street at 12:30 p.m.

Tickets for adults and children can be purchased when boarding the train.
