Nell Angela Germain Zelasko Miskanin, age 86, of Uniontown, Pa., passed away Saturday evening, June 14, 2008, in her home… Nell Angela Germain Zelasko Miskanin, age 86, of Uniontown, Pa., passed away Saturday evening, June 14, 2008, in her home with her loving family by her side.
She was born on October 1, 1921, in Mount Braddock, Pa., the daughter of the late Albert Zelasko and Maria Glista Sikora Zelasko.
Nell was a life long member of Saint Joseph Roman Catholic Church, the first President and a Charter Member of The Confraternity of Christian Mothers at the church and a very dedicated member of the Church Choir.
She graduated from the now former Saint John High School on Jefferson Street in Uniontown and also Mount Mercy College (now Carlow College) in Pittsburgh, Pa.
She owned/operated Nell’s Beauty Shop for 48 years.
Nell was an avid bingo player and will miss her bingo buddies, especially Annie.
She loved to sing and was proud of her Polish Heritage.
Her greatest love was her family! She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother! She will always be in their hearts.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers, Walter Sikora, Andrew Sikora, John Sikora, Joseph Zelasko, and sisters, Agnes Sikora Kaczmarek, Mary Sikora Joswick, Ann Sikora Suba, Ann Zelasko Spiewak and Helen Zelasko Piwowar.
Nell is survived by her beloved husband, Michael G. Miskanin Sr.; her loving and devoted children: Donna Marie Kolencik and her husband Thomas of Uniontown, Pa., Michael G. Miskanin Jr. and his wife Tami of Uniontown, Pa., and Marita Lynn Gaddis and her special friend Ed Molek of Hopwood, Pa.; her grandchildren whom she loved: Thomas J. Kolencik Jr. and wife Dana of Uniontown, Lenard Kolencik and wife Lindsay of Streetsboro, Ohio, Michael Kolencik of Uniontown, Pa., Marissa Anne Miskanin of Pittsburgh, Pa., Angelica Joy Miskanin of Pittsburgh, Pa., Michael George Miskanin III of Uniontown, Pa., and Perry William Gaddis Jr. of Chicago, Illinois. She is also survived by her great grandchildren whom she adored: Gabrielle, Monica, Gianna, Sabrina, Tommy, Samantha and Ian Kolencik; a sister, Genevieve Joy and her husband J. Roger Joy of Horseheads, New York; also many nieces and nephews and their families.
Friends will be received in the KEZMARSKY FUNERAL HOME, 71 Pennsylvania Avenue, Uniontown, Pa., today, June 17, 2008, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and on Wednesday, June 18, 2008, until 9 a.m. when a Blessing Service will be held.
A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 9:30 a.m. in Saint Joseph Roman Catholic Church with the Rev. Father Alexander L. Pleban as the Celebrant.
The Saint Joseph Parish Family Vigil Service by the Ministry of Consolation will be held at 3 p.m. and the Christian Mothers will recite the Rosary at 3:15 p.m. today in the funeral home.
Interment follows in Mount Macrina Cemetery.
