Route 40 closes for construction
Cars turn around in a cul-de-sac on Route 40 Monday, the first day of the road closure due to construction of the Mon/Fayette Expressway (Toll 43). Traffic is being detoured onto Redstone Way until next July, with the road truncated just after Redstone Way for westbound traffic from Uniontown and just past the Brownsville Drive-In and TJ Enterprises for traffic heading east on Route 40 from the Brownsville area. Construction crews will be cutting away a portion of Route 40 and building a bridge to carry the local road over Toll 43.
