She was born… Sana Fior Granchi, 95, of Penncraft, Pa., passed away, Monday, June 16, 2008, in Hillside Manor, Uniontown.
She was born March 8, 1913, in Smock, Pa., a daughter of Anthony Fior and Catherine Billiani Fior.
After her birth, her family moved to Tolmezzo, Italy. She returned to the United States as a young teenager and lived in Brownsville Junction. Later she moved with her family to Penncraft. Her parents and brothers, John, Peter and Americk (all deceased) moved to Penncraft as original homesteaders in 1941. She continued living in Penncraft after her marriage to now deceased, her husband, Michael Granchi.
Sana was a member of Holy Rosary Church, Republic, Pa. and the Brownsville Sons of Italy. Before the birth of her children, she had a store in Brownsville Junction, later she worked at Crawford’s Dairy Bar and Fiddle’s Confectionery in Brownsville, Pa.
Surviving are two daughters: Donna Betris and husband, Delano of Bethel Park, Pa. and Antoinette Gretton of Penncraft, Pa and formerly of Arlington, Va.; five grandchildren: Pamela Kadel of Walkersville, Md., Kimberly Taherian of San Ramon, Calif, Delano Betris of Chambersburg, Pa., Michael Gretton of Alexandria, Va. and Terri Betris of Buffton, S.C.; seven great-grandchildren: Simon Kadel, Alexandra Betris, Ian Kadel, Zackary Taherian, Katarina Betris, Connor Gretton and Benjamin Gretton.
Friends will be received in the ROBERT T. KISH FUNERAL HOME, 19 Legion Street, Republic, Pa., today, from 2 to 6 p.m. and Thursday, until 10:30 a.m. when a Prayer Service will be held. A Funeral Mass follows at 11 a.m. in Holy Rosary Church, with Rev. Father Stephen Bugay as Celebrant.
Interment will be in LaFayette Memorial Park.
The Brownsville Rosa Gerabaldi Lodge 1818 will hold services today at 3 p.m.
A Parish Wake Service will be held today, at 5 p.m.
