Hospital to mark reopening

2 min read

Recently reopened Browns-ville Tri-County Hospital is planning a tri-countywide celebration, including an open house and dedication of the newly remodeled and upgraded hospital. The event will be held July 31 on the 27-acre BTH campus, just off Route 166 in Redstone Township.

“The staff, administration and board of the hospital are inviting all the residents and public officials of the hospital’s service area in Fayette, Greene and Washington counties to join the open house festivities on Thursday, July 31. The event will begin at 10 a.m. with a dedication ceremony, including a speaking program, under a tent on the front lawn of the hospital,” said Frank Ricco, BTH board president. “The open house will continue through approximately 8 p.m. with guided tours, a slide program showing the construction as it progressed, pre-registration opportunities for persons to expedite future visits to the hospital for care, door prizes, refreshments and musical entertainment.”

Ricco said the hospital is sending invitations to government officials on the state, county and municipal levels as well as to special guests who have been helpful in the more than two-year battle to revive the closed hospital.

“We have a number of people we wish to publicly thank for making it possible for quality, local health care to return to our hospital. The more than $2 million dollar upgrading of the building and enhancing of our equipment was possible only because of the outstanding cooperation we’ve received. The hospital is open and operating; nearly 100 people are now employed there; the public is enthusiastically responding by using our health-care services; and now it’s time to invite all the citizens of the tri-county area to come and celebrate this historic event with us and see the dramatic improvements,” Ricco added.

A souvenir program is being developed that will contain information about the hospital’s history of service to the region, including photos. The program will be distributed while they last to those who attend the event. Sponsors wishing to be part of that souvenir program should call board member Sister James Ann Germuska at 724-785-6180, ext. 14.
