State police are looking for a Fayette County man who allegedly threatened to suffocate a woman with a shower curtain during an altercation that occurred Saturday in Point Marion.

Robert Clark Friend, 28, of Point Marion is wanted on multiple charges related to the incident, police said, noting that an arrest warrant has been obtained.

Trooper Nicholas Petrosky said the altercation occurred around 4:45 p.m. at 10 Railroad St.

Petrosky said Jennifer E. Smith, 24, of Point Marion told police Friend allegedly punched her in the chest and hit her in the head with a cell phone before dragging her into the bathroom and throwing her in the tub.

Smith told police that Friend kicked her after dragging her into the bathroom and threatened to kill her with the shower curtain, Petrosky indicated in a press release.

According to Petrosky, Friend threatened to kill Smith and told the woman he was going to “suffocate her with the shower curtain.”

Police said that Smith was able to get away from Friend and ran into the living room, where she was assaulted a second time.

Petrosky said Friend allegedly grabbed Smith while the woman was in the living room, punched her in the stomach and began to choke her.

Police allege Friend then grabbed a hammer and threatened to hit Smith in the head.

Petrosky said Smith fled the house following the altercation and was gone when police arrived.

Friend is wanted on charges of simple assault, terroristic threats and harassment, according to Petrosky.

Anyone with information regarding Friend’s whereabouts is asked to call the state police barracks in Uniontown at 724-439-7111.
