The Rev. Mary Hillberry McKahan, age 94, of Leith, Uniontown, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully in her home on Saturday afternoon,… The Rev. Mary Hillberry McKahan, age 94, of Leith, Uniontown, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully in her home on Saturday afternoon, June 21, 2008.
She was born September 13, 1913, in Blacksville, West Virginia, daughter of the late Walter Hillberry and Tacey Ann Kimmey Hillberry.
Mary was a minister of God for over 44 years. She served at The Church of Holiness in Uniontown, Pa. She touched many, many lives visiting and helping the sick. She was dedicated to others and through her ministry she touched and saved many lives.
A kind and gentle woman, she loved to sew, embroider, do puzzles and work in her garden.
Her true love was her family and her ministry!
She was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband, Clarence Donald McKahan, her sons, Donald McKahan, Benny McKahan and Charles McKahan, her daughter-in-law, Martha McKahan, her son-in-law, Richard Wood, and several brothers and sisters.
She is survived by her loving and devoted children: Virginia Wood of Uniontown, Naomi Adams and her husband Charles of Uniontown, Willie McKahan of Uniontown, Kathleen Emma Show and her husband James of Masontown, Pa., and Wanda McKahan of Leith; also 23 grandchildren; 51 great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren. Mary is also survived by her daughter-in-law Dixie McKahan of Carmichaels, Pa.; several loving nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Friends will be received in the KEZMARSKY FUNERAL HOME, 71 Pennsylvania Avenue, Uniontown, Pa., today, June 24, 2008, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and on Wednesday, June 25, 2008, until 11 a.m., the hour of Service with the Rev. Lillian Sparks officiating.
Interment follows in the McClellandtown Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
