He… Andrew Anthony Staron, 91, of Uniontown, formerly of New Salem, Pa., passed away suddenly on Monday, June 23, 2008.
He was born November 25, 1916, in Little Brownfield, Pa., the son of the late Joseph Staron and Barbara Sholtis Staron.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Catherine Platz Staron; his brothers: Joseph Staron, Steve Staron and John Staron; his sister, Mary Duritza; and his sons-in-law: Donald Smalley and James Herbert.
Andrew was a member of Saint Joseph Roman Catholic Church and United Mine Workers Local 1248.
He loved to vacation and spend time in the casinos playing the slot machines. His true love was his family: his wife, daughters, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He is survived by his loving and devoted children: Joan Smalley of Uniontown, Dolores Herbert of Uniontown, Mary Ann Bykowski and husband, Jerome of Uniontown, and Patricia Kurta and husband, Anthony of Uniontown; several loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren whom he adored; his brother, Frank Staron of Bradenton, Florida; many loving nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Friends will be received in the KEZMARSKY FUNERAL HOME, 71 Pennsylvania Avenue, Uniontown, today (Wednesday, June 25, 2008) from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., and Thursday morning, June 26, 2008, until 9 a.m. when a Blessing Service will be held followed by a 9:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial in Saint Joseph Roman Catholic with the Rev. Father Alexander L. Pleban as Celebrant.
Entombment follows in Sylvan Heights Cemetery.
Saint Joseph Parish Family Vigil Service by the Ministry of Consolation will be held today at 3:30 p.m. in the Funeral Home.
