Catherine “Katie” L. Yourich, 92, the oldest resident of Monarch, Pa., died Tuesday, June 24, 2008, in Laurel Ridge Center,… Catherine “Katie” L. Yourich, 92, the oldest resident of Monarch, Pa., died Tuesday, June 24, 2008, in Laurel Ridge Center, Uniontown.
She was born October 23, 1915, in Monarch, a daughter of the late Jacob and Sophia Dorischuk Farris.
She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, Connellsville, and was also a supporter of St. Vincent DePaul Roman Catholic Church, Leisenring. She was a member of St. John’s Christian Mothers and was a charter member and past Vice President of Monarch Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary.
Katie loved to work on puzzle books and watch baseball.
She is survived by a son, William J. Yourich and wife, Carol of Vanderbilt, Pa.; a daughter, Jacqueline A. Yourich Calhoun and husband, James of Uniontown; six grandchildren: Sherry Yourich Voda, Billie Jo Yourich both of Connellsville, David J. Calhoun of Tampa, Florida, Taryn A. Calhoun of Uniontown, Kelly Zavatsky of Connellsville, and Amy Zavatsky of Oxford, England; six great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and also numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John J. Yourich, a son, Donald J. Yourich, a daughter, Barbara Yourich Zavatsky, brothers, Joseph and John Farris and sisters, Mary Kosisko, Sophia Staun, Anna Misconin and Helen Mongolier.
Family and friends will be received on Friday from 3 to 8 p.m. in the PAUL G. FINK FUNERAL HOME, INC., 418 North Pittsburgh Street, Connellsville, Pa., where a Blessing Service will be held on Saturday at 9:30 a.m. A Funeral Mass will follow at 10 a.m. in St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church with the Rev. Father Ron Cyktor as Celebrant.
Interment will follow in St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Cemetery, Connellsville.
