California police seek information on shooting
CALIFORNIA – California police, along with state police, are investigating a shooting that occurred around 9:30 p.m. Friday. According to California police Chief Richard Encapera, police received a call from an unidentified witness claming that he saw a shooting on Third Street Extension near the junction with Route 43.
Encapera said the man told police that he saw a black, two-door vehicle pull onto the shoulder of Third Street Extension and saw a man get out of the driver’s seat of the car and fire a shot over the roof of the vehicle at a passenger who exited the car when it pulled over.
The suspect then walked to the rear of the car and fired a second round at the unidentified victim, who had crouched behind the vehicle, Encapera said.
The man then fired three of four more shots at the person, Encapera said.
The witness told police that he was traveling on Route 43 when he saw the shooting occur and was not able to see where the car went after the incident. He immediately called 911 to report the shooting.
Encapera said police discovered several spent shell casings and other evidence at the scene. He said officers also found bullet impact points in the ground.
Encapera said that investigators did not find evidence of injuries at the scene.
Anyone with information regarding the shooting is asked to call police at 724-938-3233.
