Southeastern Greene officials planning repairs to two schools
Southeastern Greene School District is planning repairs to Bobtown Elementary School and Mapletown High School.
According to district business manager Pat Sweeney, a portion of the roof will be repaired at the elementary school.
Also, about 20 percent of the windows at the high school will be repaired, Sweeney said.
The school board discussed the repairs during its meeting Thursday, but no action was taken.
Both projects will be up for bid, and will be discussed further at the next school board meeting on May 22, he said. The expected cost of the repairs is not known, Sweeney said.
The high school window repairs are in its design phase, he said. Both projects should be completed by the next school year.
In other business, the board unanimously adopted a change to its current public comment policy at meetings. Currently, the public is able to discuss items on the agenda at the start of the meeting.
Now, the board has implemented a comment session at the end of the meetings also for the public to discuss any school-related business, just not the agenda items, Sweeney said.
Also, the board hired eight new coaches for the next school year. John Coss and Doug Rodgers were hired as assistant varsity football coaches; Jay Donley and Chad Coss were hired as volunteer assistant varsity football coaches; Bob Erjavek is the new seventh- and eighth-grade football coach; Bernard Garek was hired as the seventh- and eighth-grade girls basketball coach; Arnie Bowser was hired as the new seventh- and eighth-grade boys basketball coach; and Jennifer Daniels was hired as the new varsity volleyball coach.
